Frozen Haskap Fruit
While studying horticulture at Olds College, Rosy Farms founder Andrew Rosychuk came across the haskap berry in a seed catalogue. In 2005, he planted a 27-acre berry orchard north of Edmonton on his aunt’s farm and included haskaps alongside cherries and currants. He was immediately impressed by the resilient berry, which can tough out and thrive in harsh Alberta winters and climates. Nutritionally dense, haskaps boast three times the antioxidants and five-times the anti-inflammatory properties as blueberries, making them a bona-fide superfood. Rosy Farms, an organic and regenerative farm, sells fresh haskaps at several Edmonton farmers markets, but these one-pound bags of frozen haskaps mean you can enjoy them year-round. From where they are grown and picked to the packaging and label design, the berries are 100-per cent made in Alberta.
