Meadjito
Mead, one of the first alcoholic beverages recorded in human history, is usually a simple concoction of fermented honey, water and sometimes fruits, grains and spices. Family-owned and operated Fallentimber Meadery however, crafts a sparkling canned Meadjito by adding honey, mint and lime, for a mead-based take on the classic mojito cocktail. The process takes about eight weeks, which includes fermenting the base mead, flavouring it with fresh ingredients and force-carbonating the drink, and uses local ingredients to set the Meadjito apart from other canned cocktails (like honey made from Fallentimber farm’s wild flowers). The result? Meadjito garnered rave reviews and requests for more when it debuted six years ago, and it still has a loyal following today.
